Welcome to BITS. If you're having computer problems you're in the right place, because we have computer solutions. We offer speedy and professional services, often at a fixed price so that there's no guesswork and no counting the minutes.

Services

Where Do We Work

We do our service in person and onsite whether that's in an office, home, warehouse, construction site, etc., remotely using remote access software, or offsite via pick up and drop off.

We'll come to you whether you're in Kingston, Napanee, Brockville, Westport, Gananoque, Lansdowne or anywhere in between. There are travel charges listed below.

Computer Trouble

Something no longer working properly? We can replace components in laptops, PCs, and servers. We can troubleshoot software issues, update drivers, backup and reinstall Windows. We'll repair network access, restore printer connections, replace old equipment, reprogram routers, etc.

Data

Make sure your important and irreplaceable data is backed up. Family photos to accounting data should be backed up following the rule of 3-2-1 backups. You should have 3 copies of your files, on 2 separate types of storage, and 1 should be stored off-site. We could employ external hard drives, NAS, and cloud backup to help your most precious data survive a disaster.

Custom Builds

We'd be happy to build your new PC professionally and even help pick the parts to order. We connect the hardware, neatly route the cables, install Windows, drivers, updates, and any RGB software.

Malware and Viruses

We do virus and malware removal. Often it's as easy as getting out of an unscrupulous website that's lying about infecting your computer. Sometimes, it's a cleanup operation to get the malicious files off the computer, or it might be better to backup and reinstall everything.

Networks

Do you need home and business network upgrades, installations, and replacements? Do you need cables run or wifi coverage extended? There is a solution that we can find and implement.

Recycling

We collect e-waste and reduce, reuse, and recycle it ethically at no cost. Hard drives are removed and certified destroyed to prevent data leaks.

Training

The weakest factor in computer security is the human factor. Would you like to schedule a training session for yourself or your employees that will demonstrate how to spot fake emails, what to look out for when opening email attachments, how to escape from browser hijackings, and more?

Web Design

Do you have information that you would like to communicate to your potential customers? Ask about our custom web design service. Wordpress and other CMS systems have tens of thousands of files, require databases with dozens of different tables, and can consume 10s of megabytes on every page loaded. Let us build and/or manage your web presence. You would own the code and could use it anyway you see fit, and we'll create it for you. We can also register a domain and host your site, and provide you with a copy of the account information so you are in control.

Rates

  • Hourly rate of $80 for residential services.
  • Hourly rate of $100 for business services.
  • Diagnostic fee of $40 may apply if no services/recommendations are accepted.
  • Minimum one hour for site visits.
  • Minimum half hour for remotes and drop-offs.
  • Billing half hour increments.
  • Travel to Kingston, Gananoque, Lyndhurst, and Lansdowne is $15.
  • Travel to Bath, Odessa, Amherstview, Seeley's Bay, Rockport, and Mallorytown is $20.
  • Travel to Napanee, Brockville, and Westport is $25.

We are officially open 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday to Friday.

We will be closed July 1st, 2nd, 7th, and 8th

However, it's best to schedule dropoffs and pickups as we can often be out on service calls.

Hours are flexible, and emergency service is available.

Remote Support

We use RustDesk for remote support. It is very similar to TeamViewer or AnyDesk. After downloading and running RustDesk, you will be given a 9 or 10 digit ID number. Please provide this to your support person. You can either provide the password from RustDesk, or you will be asked to accept the connection on your screen.

Detailed Instructions
  1. Click the "Rustdesk Remote Support" button above and the software will begin downloading.
  2. If you get a warning that "Rustdesk.exe isn't commonly downloaded...", hover over the warning, click the 3 dots, and choose "Keep".

  3. Click the text that says "Show more" and click the blue text that says "Keep anyway".

  4. Run the downloaded file, depending on your browser it will appear at the bottom of the screen or in the download menu. You can also go to your downloads folder or press Ctrl+J on the keyboard to see it.

  5. On any security prompts answer "Run", "Yes", "Allow", etc.
  6. You should see the main screen, similar to this:

  7. Decide if you want to install the software or just run it. Installing will leave it for future sessions and allow Administrator actions without your help. If you would like to install, click the Install button on the left after it opens.
  8. Provide the 9 or 10 digit ID to the technician.
  9. If you get a "Windows Security Alert", click the "Allow access" button. (You can leave the check marks as they are)

  10. You will receive a pop up asking to allow the technician, either click the (green) "Accept" button or provide the password located below the ID in the main window.
